Naturopathic physicians are notoriously bad about marketing all their great ideas.  I’m telling you – the amount of information we learn and practice on a daily basis seems like a normal thing but then you hear about someone capitalizing on something I heard about 5 years ago!

Bulletproof coffee… is it real?

In a brief note, yes, and it has been practiced for a long time!  Science changes its mind from time to time.  It is just how it is.  Nature however, remains consistent.  Medium chain triglycerides are the new rage, and I think this time we have it right.  For many years, you were sold the idea that sugar is the perfect brain food.  In fact, many students relished in the idea that eating candy helped their brains while studying.

Also, athletes would squeeze out sugar goo from little packages to keep them going – but sugar is not actually the preferred fuel for your cells.  Also, sugar causes insulin spikes – resulting in blood sugar spikes, even while exercising.

Did you know that during the great depression, lard sustained them while they lived under such harsh conditions.  Fat is readily available from animals in nature.  Sugar however, is hard to find.  Most fruit in fact uses fructose as their source of sweetness, but is full of fiber, which slows the impact down.

The wonderful thing about MCT oil, it is sourced from vegetables but it offers the readily available energy for people who are on the go!
